Novelist on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and author of The Invisible Stitch.
The Invisible Stitch
She left everything she loved for a name in gold letters.
New Orleans, 1888. A farm girl with a needle and an eye for a hat leaves the cane fields for Chicago and opens a shop with her own name above the door. A historical novel, drawn from the true story of Dorothy’s grandmother.

Dorothy Howard is a novelist, artist, and interior designer on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
She came to the island in 1975, when it was still quiet, and spent fifty years in flowers, furniture, and design. She always meant to write. The Invisible Stitch is what came of it.
She paints in oil, acrylic, and watercolor, finishes furniture by hand, and designs rooms around the work.
One day the girl who loved books became the woman who wrote one.
A gift from her granddaughter.
